Job Description

Join Olsson's Transmission and Distribution team and help shape the future of energy systems. As an Associate Design Technician, you'll contribute to the design of high-powered substations using MicroStation, Revit, and AutoCAD software, supporting the infrastructure that powers our communities. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you'll develop technical expertise while producing accurate and detailed designs that meet future energy demands.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and motivated designer looking to expand their skills in substation and transmission projects while collaborating with a team that values innovation, quality, and client success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in computer-aided design (CAD) operations, including plan production and entry-level design tasks under moderate supervision.
  • Develop detailed drawings for utility transmission and substation projects using MicroStation, Revit, or AutoCAD.
  • Support the creation and modification of plan sheets, layouts, and design models.
  • Assist in updating project specifications, running design calculations, and determining material needs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior designers to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform engineering support tasks, including gathering data, maintaining computer files, and documenting design changes.
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits to better understand project requirements and design feasibility.
