Job Title: Associate Scientist II

Duration: 03 months

Location: Cambridge, MA

Associate Scientist II, Neurology Research

Neurology Research at Client seeks an experienced Associate Scientist to join the Dementia & Memory Disorder Initiative. The Initiative is responsible for the discovery and validation of pathogenic mechanisms related to AD and related neurodegenerative diseases and translating these findings into novel strategies for therapeutic intervention.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with a variety of biochemical methods relevant for the study of neurodegenerative diseases and the ability to utilize these methods for target engagement studies to support drug discovery and development projects.

The position requires in-depth expertise in state-of-the-art protein biochemical techniques including brain tissue processing and Western blotting. Experience with animal handling is preferred. As Associate Scientist II, the expectation is that the incumbent is capable of planning and executing experiments with limited supervisorial oversight including the analysis and interpretation of the experimental results to achieve agreed upon objectives.


Qualifications

The successful applicant possesses:

A basic knowledge of concepts of neurodegenerative mechanisms (required). Specific knowledge in the area of tau biology is preferred (preferred).

A profound understanding of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and the ability to rigorously analyze and document results (required).

Experience with small laboratory animal handling, tissue harvest and processing methods.

In-depth experience with various biochemical assay including fractionation methods (required).

Thorough experience with a data analysis software (required).

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to clearly communicate results to a scientific audience and to maintain detailed written records (required).

BS + 3 years or MS + 1 year in biological sciences. Experience in neurobiology and/or in the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
