Job description

The Sales Representative provides prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous Outside Sales Support to our Customers, prospective Customers and Organizations concerning products, availability, services, sale promotions and deliveries. The Sales Representative is the initial, external sales contact for potential and new customers and the on-going contact with existing customers in promoting new products and providing customer service excellence. In addition, the Sales Representative generates new sales and sales leads, qualifies prospective customers and provides sales management with territorial analysis and forecasting. It is an extremely customer-focused and driven position, that requires a positive individual who can project confidence in our products, people, and processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)
  • Achieves or exceeds sales quota and objectives while ensuring 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Promotes key products and services within the Riddell product family in assigned territory.
  • Supports service to customers by developing a strong working relationship with Marketing, Technical Support, Customer Support, and Production to ensure that a team environment is established and optimal technical and customer service support is guaranteed.
  • Physically calls on accounts a minimum, specific time as required by sales management.
  • Makes sales calls (cold calls) to potential new customers to expand our customer base.
  • Qualifies prospective new and non-purchasing customers.
  • Continually maintains a thorough knowledge of all company products, catalog contents and any promotional items.
  • Implements territory business plans to effectively reach/exceed sales quota.
  • Implements pre-call plans and objectives to ensure productive customer interactions.
  • Develops a strong working knowledge of assigned products and services including applications utilized by our customer base and the features and benefits of competitive products.
  • Attends all required sales meetings, training sessions, clinics, trade shows, and conferences within assigned territory.
  • Submits timely reports required by the company including call/travel reports, itineraries, territory analysis, forecasting as well as those requested by Sales Management/Riddell Corporate.
  • Communicates on a continual basis with the assigned Regional Sales Manager on all relevant sales issues and opportunities.
  • Performs other objectives as assigned by Sales Management.
  • Travels up to 80-90% within assigned territory.
  • May be required to work nights/weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Associate Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field or an equivalent combination of Education, Training, and related experience required.
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing or related field desirable.
  • Minimum five (5) years cold call sales experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of sports and the associated equipment used for each sport is preferred.
  • Sales experience in the sporting goods business desirable.
  • Proven track record of teamwork and working well with support resources to complete sales and to service customers.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • SAP experience desirable.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and car insurance and keep on record with the Human Resources Department.
  • Must provide own vehicle which is reliable and suitable to perform the required duties and tasks associated with the sales position.
  • Able to work in team locker rooms, gymnasiums, or similar locations as well as possibly in private homes or public places.

  • Prolonged periods of bending and/or twisting throughout a work shift.
