Transportation Operations Analyst (On-site)

DASI LLC

Doral, FL • On-site

Full-time

Posted 15 days ago

Job description

For over 30 years, DASI has been in the business of providing comprehensive aircraft inventory support for airlines, MROs, OEMs, and distributors. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, with service centers in London and Singapore, DASI is a truly global partner, serving customers’ parts and inventory needs in more than 140 countries.

Purpose:

At DASI, the Transportation Operations Analyst is responsible for supporting and optimizing domestic and international transportation activities supporting Uplift operations, repair shipments to and from repair shops, and ad hoc logistics requirements. The role manages shipment booking, tracking, transportation vendors, customs coordination, and freight cost and service analysis to ensure aircraft material moves safely, compliantly, on time, and at the right cost. This position serves as a key transportation liaison across Operations, Uplift, Repairs, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, and external carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support end-to-end transportation execution for Uplift, Repairs, and ad hoc logistics requests, from initial request and routing decision through final delivery and proof of delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for transportation issues, proactively managing priorities, shipment visibility, delays, exceptions, and recovery actions.
  • Manage repair logistics to and from MROs and repair vendors, coordinating pickup, routing, customs requirements, delivery, return movements, and status visibility with the Repairs and Uplift teams.
  • Source, evaluate, qualify, and manage carriers, freight forwarders, couriers, customs brokers, and specialized logistics providers; build a reliable network of preferred partners that can support DASI's global and time-critical needs.
  • Negotiate spot rates, contracted rates, discounts, service levels, accessorial charges, and commercial terms with transportation vendors; challenge unnecessary costs and use market benchmarks and shipment data to drive measurable savings.
  • Own vendor performance management, including service reviews, scorecards, escalations, corrective actions, and follow-up on recurring failures; hold partners accountable for agreed service and communication standards.
  • Support transportation RFQs, RFPs, bid events, and contract reviews in partnership with Operations leadership, Finance, and other stakeholders, ensuring commercial decisions balance cost, reliability, speed, and operational risk.
  • Build and maintain transportation standards including routing guides, preferred carrier rules, booking procedures, escalation paths, documentation requirements, and operating playbooks that can scale with DASI's growth.
  • Own transportation cost and performance visibility by monitoring spend, transit performance, on-time delivery, exception rates, claims, and vendor service; develop recurring KPIs and actionable reporting for Operations leadership.
  • Analyze shipment history, carrier performance, routing patterns, and freight costs to identify consolidation opportunities, network changes, service improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives; convert analysis into implemented actions.
  • Partner across Uplift, Repairs, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, Sales, and other teams to anticipate transportation requirements, remove bottlenecks, improve handoffs, and create a consistently high level of internal service.
  • Act as a builder within Operations: identify broken or missing processes, challenge the status quo constructively, create practical solutions, document standards, and drive improvements through to sustained adoption.
  • Model DASI's expected culture through ownership, accountability, responsiveness, collaboration, high standards, and a willingness to remain hands-on when the operation needs support.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Key skills and competences:
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to take an ambiguous problem, create a plan, make decisions, and drive it through to resolution.
  • Proven vendor-management capability, including performance reviews, escalation management, corrective actions, and holding external partners accountable.
  • Builder mentality with a demonstrated ability to create processes, standards, reporting, and scalable ways of working rather than simply operate an existing process.
  • Strong analytical skills with a practical understanding of freight cost, routing, transit performance, service trade-offs, and transportation KPIs.
  • Ability to influence across functions and manage stakeholders without relying on formal authority; comfortable working directly with senior leaders and front-line operational teams.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail across simultaneous shipments, quotations, documentation, customs requirements, and vendor commitments.
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication, including the ability to provide decisive status updates, commercial recommendations, and escalations.
  • Microsoft Excel capability and comfort working with transportation data, dashboards, ERP/TMS platforms, carrier portals, and process automation tools.
  • Working knowledge of international transportation, import/export processes, customs documentation, Incoterms, and transportation best practices.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of progressive experience in transportation, freight forwarding, international logistics, shipping operations, or supply chain, with demonstrated ownership beyond basic shipment coordination.
  • Experience managing domestic and international parcel, air freight, ground, courier, and time-critical shipments from booking through final delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating freight rates or commercial terms and managing carrier, freight-forwarder, courier, or customs-broker relationships.
  • Experience building or improving transportation processes, routing guides, vendor scorecards, KPIs, SOPs, or cost-control programs strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of import/export documentation, customs-clearance processes, Incoterms, and international shipping requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP systems, TMS platforms, carrier portals, BI/reporting tools, or transportation automation preferred.
  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, MRO, aircraft-parts distribution, or another high-value, time-critical technical distribution environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of ATA Spec 300 packaging requirements preferred; hazmat / IATA Dangerous Goods training or certification is a plus.
