An Registered Nurse (RN) at Merakey provides clinical oversight and high-quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs. This role focuses on promoting health, managing chronic conditions, and ensuring the overall well-being of individuals in residential or community-based settings.
Job Summary
The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, and coordination of healthcare services for a specific caseload. The position serves as a primary clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team, ensuring that all medical treatments and interventions align with the individual's overall support plan and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations of individuals.
  • Developing and implementing nursing care plans based on identified health needs and physician orders.
  • Administering medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Providing clinical supervision and training to Direct Support Professionals regarding medication administration and specialized health procedures.
  • Coordinating with external healthcare providers, including specialists, pharmacies, and hospitals, to ensure continuity of care.
  • Responding to medical emergencies and providing triage or stabilizing care as needed.
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate medical records, including progress notes, MARs, and incident reports.
  • Educating individuals and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and nutrition.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A valid and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
