Essential Functions
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Duties/Responsibilities
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices; recording entries.
  • Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal ID numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.
  • Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
  • Maintains historical records and filing documents.
  • Assist receptionist in answering and directing phone calls.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with some college or technical school course work,
  • Minimum of three years of job-related experience, preferably in accounts payable, or,
  • any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Certified Accounts Payable Associate
  • Three years of job-related experience in accounts payable
