TITLE OF FACULTY POSITION
Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Instructor of Nursing
Nursing Specialties: Foundations/Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Critical Care, Community, Psychiatric, Leadership, and Management
Hampton University School of Nursing and Health Science seeks an applicant for a 9-month, full-time faculty position in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, available in the Fall Semester, August 2026.
Academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. Position will remain open until filled.
Job description and duties:
โ€ข Perform faculty responsibilities within the School of Nursing, Department of Undergraduate Nursing Education at Hampton University.
โ€ข Support program expansion efforts in the School of Nursing.
โ€ข Teach assigned courses in a manner that promotes academic excellence and student engagement.
โ€ข Provide instruction in areas of professional and clinical expertise.
โ€ข Evaluate student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
โ€ข Serve as a professional role model to students and peers.
โ€ข Represent the University positively and professionally.
โ€ข Assist in maintaining records and documentation pertinent to the School of Nursing.
โ€ข Uphold confidentiality regarding faculty, staff, and students in compliance with federal laws and university policies.
โ€ข Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of policies and procedures within the School of Nursing.
โ€ข Attend School of Nursing and university functions, meetings, and assigned committee activities.
โ€ข Maintain regular office hours and demonstrate reliable attendance.
โ€ข Advise and mentor students during office hours and as needed.
  • Engaging in activities that promote the School of Nursing, which may occur during evenings, weekends, or off-site.

โ€ข Exhibit flexibility, collaboration, and a supportive attitude in all college and university-related activities.
โ€ข Actively recruit students to programs within the School of Nursing and the School of Health Sciences Program.
โ€ข Serve as a liaison between the school and other university departments, as well as local, state, and national agencies and organizations.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with university, state, SACSCOC, AACN, NLN, CCNE, and other regulatory or accreditation bodies.
โ€ข Serve on college, University, or state-level committees or boards as appropriate.
โ€ข Represent the School and University professionally at local, state, and national academic and professional forums.
โ€ข Use a variety of evidence-based and appropriate teaching methods tailored to student needs and learning objectives.
โ€ข Participate in the periodic review, development, and revision of course materials and reports.
โ€ข Maintain professional competence through ongoing development, including pedagogy, research, grant writing, publications, and presentations.
โ€ข Demonstrate a working knowledge of and commitment to the mission, goals, and values of the School of Nursing and the University.
Qualifications:
A Master of Science degree in Nursing is required; a Doctorate is preferred.
At least 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, 3-5 years of nursing educator experience in a university, hospital, or professional practices department preferred.
Salry is based on qualifications $70,000-$100,000
Requirements:
Unencumbered licensure status as an RN in the state of Virginia or one of the Compact States.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certified (CPR)
