Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager will sell Roush services and capabilities, as well as develop new sales leads and accounts through referrals and industry contacts in the Defense Industry. This role will be responsible for all phases of the sales process, from lead generation to close out, for targeted major accounts.
As Business Development Manager, you will:
  • Lead the implementation of the department strategy for growth by coordinating the development of new business opportunities through market research, event planning, and lead generation.
  • Develop and deliver corporate presentations to potential customers
  • Actively participate in the development of requests for information and proposals that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Cultivate customer contacts with the objective of developing long-term business relationships and generation of business opportunities
  • Maintain internal database (Salesforce) for all departmental opportunities. Keep an active directory of customer contacts and gain access to customer portals
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, target markets, and potential opportunities
  • Assist wherever necessary to ensure the success of a program

To be considered as Business Development Manager, you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant business-to-business (B2B) sales and business development experience within the defense, aerospace, government, or related industries
  • Experience working with the US Department of Defense acquisition process & knowledge of defense contracting, including the various contracting mechanisms
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Must have the ability to obtain secret clearance
  • Experience successfully establishing new business and growing existing accounts
  • Experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Clear understanding of the DoD acquisition cycle and how to gain access at the earliest point to potential program opportunities
  • Ability to effectively communicate and explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Ability to expand new and existing business opportunities through market research and lead generation
  • Ability to strategically plan and execute company objectives
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate professionally and effectively (verbal and written)
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.

A successful candidate may also have:
  • Technical sales experience
  • Engineering background
  • Estimating experience
  • Experience with sound product development processes
  • Experience with FAR/DFAR and other regulatory requirements to help ensure compliance
