About the Role

Mechanical Designer creating detailed technical drawings, coordinating with engineering and production teams, and managing accurate documentation and revisions to support project execution.


What You Will Do (Essential Functions): 

  • Responsible for creating manufacturing drawings that will accurately dimension, notify spatial relationships, and contain complete bills of materials. 
  • Create drawings from complete engineering department sketches, equipment lists, kickoff meetings, and past project knowledge/drawings.
  • Work with the production floor to develop accurate depictions of equipment and material.
  • Utilize the CAD commands efficiently and productively.
  • Understand the specifications set forth within the CAD software.
  • Stay organized and document redlines, revisions, and drawing changes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
  • Support other designers and engineers to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Must be a leader who represents the organization with the ability to be a liaison to our customers, adhere to company standards and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
  • Must comply with Roeslein & Servtech’s core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and the commitment to maintain respectful relationships with all employees.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.

What You Bring (Skills, Abilities, Experience):

  • An associate degree in computer-aided Drafting, Applied Science, or related technical education is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required 
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in a manufacturing drafting/design environment
  • Competency and profound experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and/or oil and gas environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SolidWorks Software, CADWorx Plant and AutoCAD Plant 3D is required.
  • Proficiency with steel design software such as SolidWorks Weldments, CADWorx Structure, Plant 3D is an advantage
  • Proficiency with piping design software such as SolidWorks Pipe Routing is required, CADWorx Plant, Plant 3D Piping is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D drafting techniques is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interpret engineer’s notes & sketches as well as verbal directions for development into complex design documents is necessary.
  • Computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs are required, especially Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required. 
  • Develop detailed, neat, well-organized drawings meeting established standards.   
  • Requires effective teamwork skills, time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. regularly is required. Exposure to moving parts and electricity that require safety protocols.
