Job description

Position Overview

Sigmatech is seeking a Metrology Engineering Technician to support calibration, test, troubleshooting, repair, and sustainment activities for electronic and electromechanical systems in a Department of Defense environment. The selected candidate will perform component-level diagnostics and repairs, operate a variety of test equipment, and support engineering efforts to ensure mission readiness and compliance with Army and DOD technical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and maintenance of electronic and electromechanical systems.
  • Utilize test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, function generators, and similar devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve electronic test equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct soldering and rework of electronic assemblies and circuit boards.
  • Support automated test systems using interfaces such as GPIB, Serial, and RS-232.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, schematics, and specifications.
  • Document maintenance actions, calibration results, and repair activities.
  • Assist engineers and senior technicians in evaluating system performance and implementing corrective actions.
  • Follow established quality, safety, and configuration management procedures.
  • Perform assignments that may not be fully standardized and require independent judgment and technical expertise.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Related Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), technical trade school certification, associate degree in Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing component-level electronic repair and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of electronic, electrical, electromagnetic, and mechanical theories.
  • Experience using standard electronic test equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Army, DoD, or military calibration and metrology programs.
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • IPC soldering certification or equivalent electronics repair certification.
  • Experience with calibration laboratories and measurement standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in laboratory and maintenance environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to distinguish color-coded wiring and electronic components.
