Job description

Hours:          7.5 hours/day (Monday Friday)

          12 month position On site

Start Date:   ASAP

Salary:         Minimum Starting $26.00/hr.

Reports To: Director of Technology Operations


This is a competitive Civil Service position; therefore, the successful candidate must currently hold the Monroe County Civil Service title, Senior Network Technician, be reachable on the eligibility list for this title, or meet the eligibility criteria to be appointed temporarily and sit for the exam when next offered.

Position Overview

The School District is seeking a highly skilled and service-oriented Senior Network Technician to support and lead critical technology operations across the district. This position plays a key role in managing network infrastructure, cloud services, and device ecosystems while also providing leadership to technical staff and ensuring high-quality support for end users.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Systems Administration

  • Manage and maintain district network infrastructure, including performance monitoring and capacity planning
  • Administer enterprise wireless systems and network hardware (including switches and monitoring tools)
  • Support server environments, including virtualization systems and storage solutions
  • Oversee backup systems and disaster recovery planning 

Cloud & Platform Management

  • Administer and support cloud-based platforms including:  
    • Google Workspace for Education
    • Microsoft 365
  • Manage authentication systems and account automation processes
  • Oversee Chromebook and mobile device management, including deployment and customization
  • Maintain internal cloud services such as virtual servers and file systems 

Device & Software Management

  • Lead software deployment and computer imaging processes  
  • Manage Apple and Google mobile device environments
  • Ensure efficient rollout and lifecycle management of district technology assets.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Supervise and provide guidance to Network Technicians
  • Serve as escalation point for IT support and call center issues
  • Facilitate team meetings, planning sessions, and project coordination
  • Contribute to and maintain technical documentation 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the district website
  • Perform hands-on technical work as needed
  • Travel between district buildings as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

Qualifications & Technical Expertise

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of network architecture and services (DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Google Admin Console
    • Mobile Device Management (Apple and Google environments)
    • Printer Management (PaperCut)
    • Server Management (Linux and Windows)
    • Building Windows Images and iPXE Environments (a PLUS)
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)  
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and enterprise wireless systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair network systems and hardware

Minimum Qualifications (Civil Service Requirements)

Candidates must meet one of the following:

(A) Associate's degree in an information technology-related field and one (1) year of experience in the operation, installation, maintenance, or repair of computer network servers or network operating systems: OR

(B) Four (4) years of full-time experience (or part-time equivalent) as described above; OR

(C) Completion of a recognized hands-on computer operations or repair training program and two (2) years of relevant experience as described above; OR

(D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by (A), (B), or (C).

Note: Candidates qualifying under option (C) must provide proof of program completion.
