3rd shift: Monday - Friday, 10pm-7am

Job Description

The Quality Lab Chemist works in a fast-paced laboratory environment performing analytical testing on liquid products used in aerosols and occasionally on aerosolized products. This role focuses heavily on gas chromatography (GC) and other wet chemistry techniques to ensure product quality and compliance. The technician spends most of the day conducting product testing, blending samples, supporting production filling activities, and accurately documenting all test results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing using GC, HPLC, pH measurement, FTIR, percent solids, viscosity, color, odor, appearance assessments, titrations, and other wet chemistry techniques.
  • Conduct product testing on liquid contents destined for aerosol products and occasionally on aerosolized finished products to verify quality and specifications.
  • Blend and prepare samples for analysis in accordance with established laboratory methods and quality procedures.
  • Support production operations by performing testing on samples taken from filling activities on the production lines.
  • Accurately record test data in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems, ensuring all paperwork, documentation, and data entry are complete and traceable.
  • Follow established laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and quality standards at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work area, including proper handling and storage of chemicals and samples.
  • Collaborate with quality and production team members to communicate test results and support troubleshooting of quality issues.
  • Spend approximately 80% of the workday in the laboratory, 10% on the production lines, and 10% on paperwork, documentation, and data entry.
  • Adhere to physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, occasional lifting, and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field is preferred.
  • 1–2+ years of experience with gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (LC) in any industry.
  • Hands-on experience performing GC testing; GC experience is critical for success in this role.
  • Experience with HPLC, GC, pH measurement, FTIR, and wet chemistry techniques such as titrations, percent solids, and viscosity testing.
  • Prior experience in a quality assurance or quality control laboratory environment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with chemical testing, laboratory workflows, and quality documentation practices.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $66560.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
