Job description

The Associate Director, Digital Medical Strategy – Oncology will lead the execution and operationalization of digital initiatives that support Medical Affairs, leveraging AI, data analytics, and digital platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an enterprise‑wide global digital strategy for Medical Affairs across therapeutic areas and build a multi‑year roadmap.
  • Design and execute digital‑forward scientific communication plans, including medical websites, portals, social channels, videos, digital publications, and congress assets.
  • Create and oversee content creation for specialized digital channels such as social posts, thought‑leader videos, and disease‑state education.
  • Collaborate with agencies, IT, and internal teams to manage websites, adapt content for digital channels, and drive content review and approval processes.
  • Apply science and medical strategy to optimize and tailor content for HCP audiences, ensuring accurate and compliant communication at scale.
  • Enable enterprise‑wide AI systems that integrate MA insights with internal and external data, establishing context, risk management, and scientific accuracy.
  • Define KPIs and metrics to evaluate digital initiatives, conduct agile reviews, and pivot strategies as necessary.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new technologies, digital trends, and AI use cases, ensuring scientific validity and actionable insights.
  • Lead pilot programs, scale successful initiatives globally, and define governance for omnichannel medical engagement platforms.
  • Assess innovative digital tools and platforms, optimize integrations with Medical Affairs systems, manage vendor relationships, and oversee budgets and value assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with country and regional legal, data protection, and regulatory guidelines, collaborating with IT security and data privacy teams.
  • Champion change management, training, and upskilling for global medical digital tools, solutions, and resources.
Qualifications
  • Advanced terminal degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) required.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant Medical / Scientific experience and 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience (or equivalent).
  • Strong scientific knowledge and expertise in Oncology preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Medical Affairs strategy, activities, systems, and workflows.
  • Experience assessing, selecting, implementing, and scaling digital platforms with AI and digital fluency.
  • Self‑starter who stays informed about evolving technology and drives innovation.
  • Leadership and change‑management skills, including clear communication, stakeholder management, and team motivation.
  • In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and cross‑functional collaboration across R&D, commercial, IT, legal, regulatory, and compliance.
  • Experience translating data into actionable strategic recommendations with analytics, dashboards, and visualization tools.
  • Experience managing third‑party solution providers, vendors, and agencies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment, prioritize, and adapt to change.
  • Hybrid work in Nutley, NY (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office) and up to 25% travel for conferences and internal meetings.
Salary & Travel
