Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer | Future Engineering Leadership | $100,000 to $125,000 Base Salary | Full Time | Direct HireWhat Matters Most

• Competitive base salary of $100,000 to $125,000

• Location: Seymour, Connecticut

• Full time, on site direct hire opportunity

• Future engineering leadership opportunity tied directly to long term succession planning

• Hands on mechanical design role with ownership from concept development through production

• Broad exposure to industrial vacuum systems, electronics manufacturing equipment, automation, pneumatics, thermal systems, and precision mechanical assemblies

• Direct access to ownership within an established family owned manufacturer

• Opportunity to make a visible impact on products, engineering processes, manufacturing, and the future direction of the organization

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who brings strong technical capability today and the potential to grow into a future engineering leadership role.

This is not a narrowly defined design position. You will have meaningful ownership across the complete product lifecycle, including concept development, mechanical design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing support, product improvements, supplier collaboration, and customer requirements.

The organization is entering an important period of succession planning, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced, hands on engineer who wants more than their next design role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build deep knowledge of the business, earn credibility across the organization, and position themselves for increasing technical and leadership responsibility over time.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical products, machinery, assemblies, and capital equipment from initial concept through production

• Create detailed designs using SolidWorks while supporting prototype development, testing, validation, engineering revisions, and continuous product improvement

• Lead engineering projects while coordinating directly with manufacturing, suppliers, vendors, customers, and company leadership

• Apply strong mechanical engineering fundamentals across machined components, sheet metal, mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, vacuum systems, motion systems, and thermal applications

• Provide hands on manufacturing and technical support while helping strengthen engineering processes, share technical knowledge, and contribute to the long term development of the engineering function

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline

• Five or more years of mechanical design engineering experience involving manufactured products, machinery, capital equipment, or engineered systems

• Strong SolidWorks proficiency and experience developing products from concept through production

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability, product development, engineering changes, and supplier collaboration

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects, solve practical engineering problems, and work effectively across engineering and manufacturing

Preferred Experience:

• Capital equipment, industrial machinery, automation equipment, or custom machine design

• Pneumatic, vacuum, motion, fluid handling, or thermal systems

• Precision mechanical assemblies, sheet metal, and machined component design

• Prototype development, testing, validation, and manufacturing support

• Basic electrical knowledge involving machine wiring, controls, control panels, sensors, switches, or equipment troubleshooting

• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership

Benefits and Perks:

• Base salary of $100,000 to $125,000

• Comprehensive health benefits

• Paid time off

• Professional development opportunities

• Long term career advancement

• Potential pathway into future engineering leadership

• High visibility and direct interaction with company ownership

Your New Organization:

Our client is an established family owned manufacturer with more than 60 years of operating history. The organization designs and manufactures industrial vacuum products and sophisticated capital equipment supporting electronics manufacturing applications.

The company operates with a lean, collaborative structure where engineers work directly with manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and ownership. Rather than specializing in one narrow piece of the engineering process, team members have the opportunity to influence products from initial concept through manufacturing and ongoing improvement.

With long tenured leadership approaching retirement, the organization is also thinking intentionally about succession and the next generation of technical leadership. This creates a unique opportunity for the right engineer to join as a strong individual contributor today while building toward a significantly broader role in the future.

Your Career Partner:

The Reserves Network, a veteran founded and family owned company, specializes in connecting exceptional talent with rewarding opportunities. With extensive industry experience, we are dedicated to helping you achieve your professional goals and shine in your field. The Reserves Network values diversity and encourages applicants from all backgrounds to apply. As an equal opportunity employer, we foster an environment of respect, integrity, and trust in every aspect of employment.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and internal pay equity. Please note that hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
