What is an associate managing editor?

An Associate Managing Editor is a professional who assists the Managing Editor in overseeing the editorial process for publications such as newspapers, magazines, or online platforms. Their responsibilities often include managing editorial schedules, coordinating with writers and editors, ensuring content quality, and helping to maintain deadlines. They may also review articles for accuracy and style, manage workflow, and contribute to developing editorial policies. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and editing skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate managing editor?

To thrive as an Associate Managing Editor, you need a solid background in editorial processes, strong writing and editing abilities, and typically a degree in English, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), editorial style guides like AP or Chicago, and workflow tools such as Trello or Asana is essential. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while collaborating effectively set top candidates apart. These skills ensure smooth editorial operations, high-quality content, and efficient team coordination in fast-paced publishing environments.

Job description

Showroom Sales & Marketing Associate
North Central Insulation - Bellville, Ohio
$21.00/hour + Monthly Sales Commission | Full-Time
Are you a people person who also happens to be creative?
North Central Insulation is looking for someone who can do both.
This is a unique position combining showroom sales and marketing. Part of your time will be spent helping customers in our showrooms, learning our products, and earning commission on sales. The rest will be spent helping tell the NCI story-creating social media content, taking photos and videos, developing advertising, assisting with recruiting campaigns, and helping market our growing company.
This is not a sit-at-a-desk-all-day marketing job, and it isn't a traditional retail sales job either.
If you enjoy talking with people, have a creative side, are comfortable with social media and technology, and like the idea of having some variety in your workweek, you may be exactly who we're looking for.
What You'll Do
Showroom Sales
  • Help customers visiting or calling our showrooms
  • Learn our products and help customers find the right solutions
  • Prepare customer information and assist with sales
  • Maintain attractive, organized showroom displays
  • Earn monthly commission on qualifying showroom sales
  • Occasionally work from our Bellville, Newark, and Lewis Center showrooms as needed

Marketing
  • Create photos, videos, graphics, and written content for social media
  • Help manage NCI's Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other online presence
  • Visit NCI projects and locations to capture interesting content
  • Create flyers, advertisements, banners, recruiting materials, and other marketing pieces
  • Help promote job openings and tell the stories of our employees and company
  • Assist with website content and online business listings
  • Work with NCI leadership on advertising, promotions, and new marketing ideas

Who We're Looking For
You don't have to be a career salesperson or a professional marketing executive.
We're looking for someone who is:
  • Friendly, confident, and comfortable talking with customers
  • Creative and able to recognize what makes good content
  • A strong communicator and writer
  • Comfortable with social media
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects
  • Willing to learn our products and our business
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
  • Able to travel between our Bellville, Newark, and Lewis Center locations as needed

Experience with Canva, graphic design, photography, video editing, social media marketing, or content creation is a plus-but we're also interested in talented people who have developed these skills on their own.
What We Offer
  • Starting pay of $21.00/hour
  • Monthly showroom sales commission opportunities
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Paid training
  • Guaranteed Sundays off
  • Short Saturday hours: 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
  • Paid holidays after 30 days
  • Paid Time Off after one year
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance eligibility after 90 days
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibility

A Job With Some Variety
Some days you may be helping a homeowner choose a fireplace or another product in one of our showrooms. Another day you may be photographing a project, creating a social media post, working on an advertisement, or helping develop the next NCI marketing campaign.
We want someone who enjoys people and has a creative streak-and who would rather have some variety than do exactly the same thing every day.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today and tell us a little about yourself and why this combination of sales and marketing interests you.
