Managing Director – Healthcare Investment Banking

As a Managing Director in the Healthcare Investment Banking group, you’ll provide clients with advice on all aspects of M&A and capital markets alternatives through highly focused industry teams with world‑class, global execution capabilities. You’ll be working in a team environment with corporate finance and established investment banking professionals on a variety of projects with primarily responsibility for leading the Payor Services practice that includes coverage of managed care, value‑based care and related organizations as part of a group with broad healthcare and life sciences coverage capabilities. Our team works to initiate and execute transactions on behalf of our clients that reflect their strategy and are supported by industry trends. You’ll be responsible for delivering comprehensive investment banking solutions, M&A, debt and equity transaction execution for the broad universe of companies in Payor Services and related sectors.

Key Responsibilities

As a Managing Director, you will be a vital member of the team responsible for initiating and leading the execution of investment banking engagements in the Payor Services sector. You will be responsible for covering the Payor Services sector and related subsectors, with duties encompassing the origination and execution of both buy‑side and sell‑side M&A transactions as well as capital markets transactions. Your coverage will include private and public middle‑market enterprises, along with relevant private equity sponsors. You’ll leverage EY’s extensive global reach and network of relationships to communicate the firm’s unique investment banking capabilities to clients’ senior executives. You will also lead and develop a team of mid‑level and junior members ensuring their career development.

Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Advise companies regarding M&A, strategic, and corporate finance transactions.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, associates and analysts to prepare compelling pitch materials, offering memoranda and related materials for M&A and capital raising mandates.
  • Develop relationships with investors and strategic participants in the sector for M&A and capital raising mandates.
  • Perform extensive financial analysis, valuation analysis, and pro forma financial modeling.
  • Identify key issues and potential areas of valuation and transaction risk within engagements.
  • Perform in‑depth sector market and company‑specific coverage.
  • Contribute to recruiting and team development initiatives.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of directly related work experience; or a graduate degree and at least 7 years of related work experience.
  • Extensive investment banking experience, particularly originating and executing M&A transactions.
  • Existing Series 7 and/or 79 plus Series 63 securities licenses (in good standing).
  • Ability to work directly with clients as the most senior banking team representative able to manage all client deliverables.
  • Strong experience with both originating transactions and leading a team in execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • A proven record of excellence in investment banking transaction execution, specific to mergers, acquisitions and capital markets in Payor Services and related sectors.
  • Experience gained within another credible investment banking organization.Established networking skills in a relevant industry.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • You must either reside in or be in a commutable distance to your office location for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of how to leverage AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the U.S. is $265,000 to $325,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
