Description
The Vanderbilt Eye Institute in Nashville, Tennessee is seeking a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus specialist to join our pediatric division faculty, which currently includes seven fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologists, four pediatric optometrists, seven orthoptists, and five pediatric ophthalmic subspecialists with an average annual volume of approximately 35,000 outpatient visits and 1500 surgical cases. Active training programs include our pediatric ophthalmology fellowship program, an ophthalmology residency, an orthoptist training program, and a technician training program. The Vanderbilt Eye Institute is a multi-specialty academic ophthalmology practice with over 60 full-time clinical and research faculty members, state of the art facilities and equipment, and multiple offices that serves an annual patient volume of nearly 200,000. We promote a collegial and academic environment with a collaborative culture that has enabled unprecedented growth over the past quarter century. The Children's Hospital is adjacent to our main campus and is consistently ranked as one of the best in the southeastern United States.
We seek fellowship-trained Pediatric Ophthalmology faculty candidates who are certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology and eligible for an unrestricted Tennessee medical license. This position carries a full-time clinician-educator, clinician-investigator, or clinical practice track appointment at the assistant, associate professor, or professor level, as appropriate. The ideal candidate has the desire to build a busy patient care is committed to teaching medical students/residents/fellows. Research opportunities at Vanderbilt abound and are facilitated by world-class informatics support and multi-disciplinary collaborations within and outside of our thriving Academic Medical Center. Leadership opportunities within the Department or the Children's Hospital may be available for the appropriate candidate.
