The Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to work on-site in Miami, FL. The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cardiovascular science, physiology, biomedical sciences, or a related field

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment
  • Access to state-of-the-art core facilities and clinical research infrastructure
  • Excellent skills in English (both verbal and written) and computer skills required.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
  • Design and execute independent research projects related to cardiac biology, heart failure, and regenerative or cell-based therapies
  • Conduct molecular and cellular assays.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets; maintain rigorous experimental documentation.
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and grant applications in collaboration with the PI.
  • Present findings at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and national/international conferences.
  • Mentor graduate students, technicians, and trainees as appropriate.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong background in cardiovascular biology, molecular biology, or translational research.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
  • Expertise in regenerative medicine, cell-based therapies, or myocardial biology.
  • Familiarity with cardiac organoids, iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, or stem cell-based platforms.
