Job description

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Wilmington, DE /Hybrid
Duration: 12+ Month

Overview:
Seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support cloud-native enterprise applications in AWS. The ideal candidate has strong Java and Python development experience, expertise in distributed systems, and a proven track record operating highly available production environments.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support cloud-native applications and services.
Build REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions.
Participate in architecture and technical design decisions.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
Contribute to CI/CD automation and infrastructure deployment.
Mentor developers and participate in code reviews.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of software development experience.
Strong experience with Java 21+, Spring Boot, and Python.
Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

Strong AWS experience with:

  • ECS/Fargate
  • EventBridge
  • SQS/SNS
  • Lambda
  • S3
  • Aurora PostgreSQL/PostgreSQL
  • CloudWatch

Experience designing and supporting highly available applications across multiple AWS Availability Zones and Regions.
Experience with disaster recovery, failover testing, business continuity, and improving Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, or higher.
Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and CloudFormation.
Strong SQL, data modeling, and database performance tuning skills.
Experience with automated testing using JUnit and Mockito.
Experience supporting and troubleshooting production systems.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with EDI systems and B2B integrations.
Experience in transportation, railroad, logistics, or other high-volume transaction-processing environments.

Ideal Candidate:

Has hands-on AWS operational experience.
Understands resiliency, disaster recovery, and cloud-native architecture.
