General Studies Full Time Faculty - Mathematics Description
Under the direction of the Dean of Academics, the Full-Time Assistant Professor of Math will provide ground and online instruction for General Studies courses including College Algebra, Statistics, Pre-Cal, and Calculus. Instructors update course syllabi, develop lesson plans, develop presentation materials, and evaluate students' progress. Instructors are required to ensure the safety and security of their classrooms and effectively use class time.
This position is for a campus-based faculty member at the South College-Atlanta Campus in Atlanta, GA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop instructional materials to facilitate student learning outcomes for the course.
  • Collect all assessment data related to student learning outcomes.
  • Effectively use class time by ensuring meaningful learning activities occur for the entire class period.
  • Maintain an equitable system of student evaluation based on sound practices in accordance with the course syllabus.
  • Return all graded assignments in a reasonable time frame according to South College Faculty Expectations.
  • Project an appropriate professional image.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Enforce all South College rules and policies.
  • Complete and submit all attendance rosters and grade forms before the established due dates.
  • Notify Dean or Department Chair before planning field trips and secure necessary permission.
  • Maintain on-campus office hours and teach face-to-face/on-ground classes.
  • Assist with hiring and evaluation of General Studies adjunct faculty.

Requirements
Education
  • Minimum of a master's degree in relevant Math Field (Doctorate preferred)

Experience
  • Prior teaching experience preferred in an online and face-to-face environment
  • Prior on-campus leadership experience preferred
  • Proficient in the written and oral communication of the English language
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
