The Crop Division of Great American has been helping generations of farmers take control of their risks since 1915. Great American's Crop Division is looking for a Claim Operations Associate to support its Claims department. This position is based out of the Lawrence, KS office. Great American's culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday-Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provides clerical support to Claims department:
    • Reviews data and text associated with claims files
    • Scans and indexes documents
    • May assist with and/or create general correspondence
    • May perform mail/file functions. Utilizes the company system(s) to identify the appropriate recipient of correspondence within or outside the company. Sorts and distributes mail. Maintains/purges documents according to record retention guidelines and distributes files/file systems.
  • May assist Claims department:
    • Sets up claims files
    • Files correspondence and other material related to the claims records, as directed
    • Locates policies
    • Obtains coverage information from policies
    • Investigates discrepancies in the information gathered
    • Enters information into system(s)
    • Orders reports
  • Updates claims files and maintains, corrects, and/or updates data using office technology.
  • Prepares and maintains records, registers, and schedules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including the following clerical support duties:
    • Answering phones
    • Initial contact for anyone entering office
    • Sort/distribute mail
    • Print & mail Underwriting Urgent forms
    • Copy and mail lockbox payments

  • Generally, 0 to 2 years of related experience.
