What does a part time insurance claims adjuster do?

A Part Time Insurance Claims Adjuster investigates insurance claims to determine the extent of the insuring company's liability. They review documentation, interview claimants and witnesses, inspect property or vehicles, and collaborate with other professionals to assess damages. Working part time, they usually handle a reduced caseload and may work flexible hours. Their goal is to ensure claims are processed fairly and in accordance with policy terms.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a part time insurance claims adjuster?

To thrive as a Part Time Insurance Claims Adjuster, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of insurance policies, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant experience. Familiarity with claims management software, digital documentation systems, and sometimes state adjuster licensing is typically required. Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills help adjusters effectively handle client interactions and multitask in a part-time role. These competencies ensure accurate claim assessments, efficient workflows, and positive customer experiences in a competitive insurance environment.

How does working part time as an insurance claims adjuster affect workflow and case management responsibilities?

Part time insurance claims adjusters typically manage a reduced caseload compared to their full-time counterparts, allowing them to focus more deeply on each claim's details within limited working hours. While you may handle fewer files simultaneously, efficient time management and communication are essential, as claims still often require timely follow-ups and coordination with policyholders, agents, and repair professionals. Team structures often support flexible scheduling, but adjusters are expected to provide regular updates and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure continuity and customer satisfaction, especially if cases are reassigned or shared.

Xactimate Estimator (In Office) Part-Time

Shamrock Roofing

Part-time

Job description

About Shamrock Roofing & Construction

Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Kansas City, Shamrock Roofing & Construction is a family-owned company with nearly five decades of expertise in roofing and construction. In recent years, our business has grown rapidly across the Midwest — with active operations in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arkansas — and we're not slowing down. As we continue to expand, we're looking for a skilled Xactimate Estimator to join our headquarters team and play a key role in our continued growth.

The Role

As our Xactimate Estimator, you'll own the full lifecycle of insurance-based construction estimates — from initial site inspection and scope development to adjuster negotiations and final approval. You'll work closely with our project managers, field crews, and insurance carriers to ensure every claim is estimated accurately, professionally, and on time. This is a part-time, in-office role (30 hours/week) with paid holidays, offering high impact in a fast-growing company where your work directly drives revenue.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare detailed, accurate construction estimates for insurance claims using Xactimate software, from inspection through final scope sign-off
  • Collaborate with insurance adjusters to review, negotiate, and finalize claim scopes
  • Partner with project managers to support accurate project estimates and proposal development
  • Conduct occasional job site visits to assess damage and validate estimate scopes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing standards, building codes, and vendor information
  • Manage multiple active estimates simultaneously, prioritizing based on urgency and project timelines
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement by staying current on estimating tools, including AI-assisted workflows relevant to insurance restoration

What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days

  • You've completed a full estimate cycle independently — from inspection to adjuster approval
  • You've built solid working relationships with our project management and field teams
  • Your estimates are consistently accurate, on time, and approved with minimal back-and-forth

Requirements:

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in roofing or insurance restoration
  • Xactimate Level 2 certification required — you should be highly proficient, not just familiar
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with insurance adjusters to negotiate and approve scopes
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) for documentation and collaboration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you'll be corresponding with adjusters, clients, and internal teams regularly
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines without dropping the ball
  • Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to estimate accuracy
  • A problem-solving mindset — you're comfortable working through complex claims with incomplete information

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: $31.00-$41.00 an hour based on experience.
  • Part-time, in-office position, Flexible hours Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must work 30 hours a week.
  • Paid Holidays
  • All new hires are subject to a 90-day introductory period

Additional Information

Shamrock Roofing & Construction participates in the E-Verify Program. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or genetic information. All offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.

Ready to join a company that's been building trust since 1977 — and is growing faster than ever? We'd love to hear from you.
