Job description

Role:  Associate Financial Advisor

Advisor Residency Program

MidCoast Wealth Advisors | Merrillville, IN

We Believe There Is a Better Way.

Most firms tell advisors to immediately find clients and gather assets.

Many spend years chasing production goals, gathering AUM, and hoping experience eventually turns them into great advisors.

We believe there is a better way.

At MidCoast, we're working to build something bigger than a successful advisory practice. We're working to right the wrongs in wealth management by restoring the profession to what we believe it was always meant to be:

Serving, Not Selling.

We believe clients deserve clear financial advice in their best interests, not product recommendations driven by sales goals. Our responsibility is to leave people better than we find through thoughtful advice, proactive guidance, and genuine care for their success, helping them make wise decisions and ultimately live a life that inspires "Well Done."

About MidCoast

Our mission is simple:

Doing things to inspire a "Well Done" from our team, clients, and community.

We believe the future of financial advice lies in integrating comprehensive financial planning, wealth management, tax planning, and exceptional client service into a seamless experience.

We're building a firm where advisors collaborate rather than compete, learn rather than simply produce, and focus on long-term client outcomes rather than short-term transactions.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an Associate Financial Advisor who aspires to become a trusted Lead Advisor.

This role combines elements of:

  • Financial Planning
  • Paraplanning
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Advisor Development
  • Business Development

You will work alongside experienced advisors, participate in client meetings, assist with financial planning, learn tax-aware planning concepts, and gradually take on greater responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

This is not a support role with a dead-end future.

This is an opportunity to begin building a career as a comprehensive financial advisor.

Advisor Residency Program

One of the things that makes MidCoast different is our commitment to developing advisors.

While we're still building and refining our Advisor Residency Program, one thing is clear:

Great advisors don't happen by accident.

They are developed through intentional mentorship, education, experience, accountability, and meaningful client relationships over time.

During your first 18-24 months, your primary job isn't to maximize production.

Your job is to become exceptional.

You'll gain exposure to:

  • Comprehensive Financial Planning
  • Retirement Income Planning
  • Tax Planning Concepts
  • Estate Planning Discussions
  • Business Owner Planning
  • Client Relationship Development
  • Prospect Meetings
  • Advanced Planning Conversations
  • Advisor Leadership Skills

Our goal is simple:

To help you become one of the most trusted, technically competent, and servant-hearted advisors in the profession.

Professional Development

MidCoast invests heavily in developing future advisors through:

  • APMA® Designation
  • CFP® Education Support
  • Ed Slott IRA Planning Training
  • Kitces Membership
  • Business Development Training
  • Tax Planning Education
  • Ongoing Advisor Mentorship
  • Advanced Planning Exposure

We don't simply expect growth.

We invest in it.

What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in financial services, wealth management, financial planning, banking, insurance, tax, accounting, or a related field preferred
  • FINRA registrations (Series 7 and/or Series 66) are a plus
  • CFP® interest strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Coachable mindset with a desire to learn and grow

Ideal Candidate

This role is best suited for someone who has some exposure to financial services, financial planning, wealth management, banking, insurance, tax, accounting, or a related profession and is looking to accelerate their development into a comprehensive financial advisor.

Whether you're currently a paraplanner, associate advisor, banker, client relationship manager, tax professional, or early-career advisor, we're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career helping clients make wise financial decisions.

Who Thrives at MidCoast?

Technical skills matter, but character matters more.

Like Patrick Lencioni describes in The Ideal Team Player, our best team members are:

  • Humble

They put the team's success above their own ego.

  • Hungry

They have the drive to learn, grow, improve, and get after it.

  • Relationally Smart

They build trust naturally, communicate well, and genuinely care about people.

A Culture Advocate

We are obsessed with our culture and protect it dearly.

We're looking for someone who gets excited about our mission and embodies our core values:

  • Others First

Serving leads to the greater good of our team, our clients, and our community.

  • Build Trust

Do what you say. No surprises. Treat it like it's your own. Follow through.

  • Communicate Well

Listen first, speak second. Say what you mean, mean what you say. If there's an issue, let's deal with it. Simplify the complexities.

  • Be Hungry

Get after it. Continuously improve. Make it better than you found it.

Most Important of All

We can teach financial planning.

We can teach technical skills.

We can teach systems and processes.

What we're truly looking for is someone who wants to serve others, loves learning, embraces accountability, and aspires to become an exceptional advisor.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Performance bonus opportunities
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Health insurance contribution
  • Generous PTO
  • Professional development support
  • Advisor Residency Program
  • Mentorship from experienced advisors
  • Clear path toward Lead Advisor responsibilities

Why Join MidCoast?

We are not simply offering a job.

We are offering an opportunity to join a mission.

A mission to help restore our profession to what it was always meant to be:

Serving, not selling.

An opportunity to develop exceptional planning expertise, build meaningful client relationships, and become part of something larger than any one individual.

An opportunity to help clients make wise decisions, leave people better than you find them, and create work that inspires a "Well Done."

We want MidCoast to be the place where you become the advisor you were meant to be and where you do the best work of your professional life.

If that excites you, we'd love to hear from you.
