Job description

Employment Type: Regular Full-Time

Shift: 1st Shift

Work Status: On-site

Position Summary

The Associate Buyer/Planner assists Buyer/Planners (BPs) in the daily functions of purchasing and planning for their production lines.  Create schedules, print travel tickets, purchase routine items and conduct reporting for BPs.  Coordinates all shipping transactions from the facility.  Assists Operations Manager and VP of the Business Unit with daily reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and on special projects. 

Measures of success:

  • Successfully coordinates all direct shipments from the facility on time and as planned
  • On-time publishing of all shipping and labor KPIs
  • Full and accurate management of supplies for front office and shipping

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • With direction and guidance, produces production schedules and job traveler packets.
  • Generates purchase orders for raw materials based on existing procurement contracts and established purchasing procedure.
  • Reviews and processes ongoing maintenance purchase orders to ensure no interruptions. 
  • Invoice and receipt reconciliation. 
  • Creates sand blast purchase orders and coordinates transportation logistics. 
  • Solicits drop ship freight bids from established carrier list.
  • Coordinates all shipping transactions from facility and completes all shipping transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Orders all office supplies and manages inventory levels.
  • Completes cycle count paperwork and data entry.
  • Provides tracking information to account managers as requested.
  • Assists with processing receivers.
  • Works with the Operations Manager to complete weekly cycle count program.
  • Provides back up when BP team members are out.
  • Works on special projects and other administrative duties assigned, such as greeting guests to the facility and assisting with on-site events. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment or similar high pace commercial/industrial workplace.
  • Effective communication skills, including excellent oral and written skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and take direction from multiple stakeholders within the team.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
  • No travel required.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in Business or related field.
  • 5+ years using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment or similar high pace commercial/industrial workplace.
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing ERP systems and cycle count programs.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an office environment using computer and technology.  Verbal and auditory capability are required.

This is an onsite position that reports into the site every day.

Exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent up to 25% of the day.  Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position has no direct reports.
