General Description
The successful candidate will be a significant contributor on our Project Execution Team. The Automation Engineer will work in the development, delivery, and commissioning of state-of-the-art process control systems and solutions for R.E. Mason's industrial customers. R.E. Mason uses the technologies provided by Emerson - DeltaV Distributed Control System ("DeltaV"), Asset Management System (AMS) and other Emerson solutions.
The Automation Engineer will also provide aftermarket ("Lifecycle") and staff augmentation support to customers. Typically, this includes modifying existing control strategies, implementing small scale expansion projects and assisting with process optimization projects.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Implement control strategies within the DeltaV DCS that are used to interface with and control physical devices such as valves and pumps within the plant environment. This will include:
    • Configuring and testing control and equipment modules classes and instances
    • Configuring and testing batch control strategies including phase classes and recipes
    • Configuring custom dynamos, graphic displays, and trends
  • Develop system design documentation for a variety of continuous and batch process control applications
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests ("FAT"s) / Software Acceptance Tests ("SAT"s)
  • Support start-up and commissioning activities at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot system hardware, software, network, and instrument bus technologies
  • Configure and commission wireless field networks
  • Configure DeltaV Continuous Historian and integration to 3rd party Historians such as OSI PI
  • Develop custom shift, environmental, or production reports for plant maintenance and operations personnel
  • Configure process modeling & simulation (using both Mynah MiMic software & DeltaV)
  • Work independently on-site at a customer location

Required Education and Experience
  • B.S. in CHE, EE, ME, Comp. Eng, Comp. Sci., other related disciplines
  • 1+ year of relevant experience working in DeltaV or similar DCS
  • MS Office Experience

  • Experience with additional Control Systems or PLCs
  • ISA S88 experience
  • Understanding of regulated or validated systems
  • Prior experience working in a relevant manufacturing environment
  • Windows Server 2016/2019 and network troubleshooting skill

Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $50,000 to $200,000 annually. Individual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
