Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a skilled engineering specialist with a strong electrical background and mechanical aptitude to lead the maintenance, design, and installation of production equipment, infrastructure, buildings, and grounds. This role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams throughout project development and reviews to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance with industry standards. Candidates should be adaptable, as flexibility in work hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

(May include, but are not limited to, the following)

Core Responsibilities:

· Support the electrical scope of process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation projects on behalf of the plant Automation group.

· Coordinate all phases of assigned projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, related bid meetings, equipment and facilities engineering/design, manufacturing, and installation through final start-up, acceptance and project closure.

· Assist with various types of equipment and process issues from an engineering perspective with key emphasis on maintaining and improving reliability and productivity of systems with specialized technical expertise in the application and use of automation technology for plant facilities and processes.

· Maintain accurate records for all automation programs and all changes to these systems.

· Propose and execute improvements to existing automation systems and processes.

· Focus on overall safety of facilities equipment and processes including responsibility and oversight of EHS policies.

· Oversee contractor work and compliance with Howmet Aerospace, Federal/State, Environmental, Health and Safety policies.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Provides engineered solutions, recommendations and procurement of electrical hardware for production equipment. Support the electrical testing, commissioning, and validation of new or modified hardware installations.

· Generate and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, spare parts lists, hardware manuals, troubleshooting & repair procedures.

· Determine/create/maintain key process characteristics within the robotic program necessary for a robust process, along with monitoring/reacting to these process inputs.

· Ability to utilize off-line programming software to minimize production downtime while correcting issues, implementing new products, and/or making other adjustments.

· Detail oriented, with record keeping practices that easily allow for determining process changes to downstream results.

· Collaborate with maintenance, mechanical engineers, process engineers, safety engineers, and other internal and external contacts in the coordination of system repairs / installs.

· Provide field engineering and troubleshooting assistance to support maintenance, EHS and operation groups including equipment breakdown support.

· Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Automation Lead.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associate’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering technology, degree in a related field, associate’s degree or equivalent experience deemed acceptable

· 3+ years of experience in electrical project management, equipment design, or industrial automation

· Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

· This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· 5+ years of experience in electrical project management, equipment design, or industrial automation.

· Familiarity with Motoman and Fanuc robots, including application of a 7th axis

· Familiarity with Fanuc offline programming software

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to understand the needs from a team that has minimal exposure to robotic programming.

· Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and automation in a manufacturing environment.

· Ability to interpret and create electrical schematic drawings.

· Ability to interpret codes, and industry regulations.

· Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD and Office 365.

· Excellent communication skills with experience in cross-functional collaboration.

· Proven ability to oversee multiple projects while maintaining timelines and budgets.

· Hands on experience with PLC programming, control system design, and troubleshooting electrical components.

· Hands on experience with industrial power distribution systems, including 12,500V high-voltage supply and secondary 480V three-phase distribution within a manufacturing environment.
