Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review structural designs for compliance with the Unified Facilities Code (UFC), International Building Code (IBC), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
  • Designs structural systems to account for transport, live, and seismic loads.
  • Collaborates with designer and analyst to perform design trade studies and determine structural design solutions.
  • Attends “job kick-off” meetings and participates in design reviews with customers.
  • Reviews customer requirements including customer specifications, Statements of Work, and interface drawings to ensure compliance with contract.
  • Prepares and updates task lists.
  • Tracks schedules and budgets on assigned programs.
  • Issues long lead material.
  • Provides technical input to CAD design team on various tasks.
  • Reviews and approves drawings.
  • Interfaces with other departments to resolve questions and technical issues.
  • Creates technical proposals, technical materials, and procurement specifications.
  • Supports the Sales department in proposal development and engineering estimates.
  • Reviews vendor/shop drawings, quotes, and proposals.
  • Resolves vendor issues and dispositions defective material. Creates Cost Schedule Impact Logs (CSIL's) for added scope.
  • Submits Engineering Change Proposals (ECP's).
  • Interfaces with customers and contracts to resolve customer related issues.
  • Contributes to product improvement, new products, and product standardization.
  • Mentors Associate Mechanical Design Engineers and Mechanical Design Engineers.

Other Job Functions:

  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position may have supervisory responsibilities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BSME/BSMET degree in technical field.

6+ years professional engineering experience.

Experience with Auto-Cad; 3-D Modeling Software, etc.

Defense/DoD-engineering background preferable.

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Office environment.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
