Job description

Associate Front End Software Engineer
Category: Software Development/ Engineering
Main location: United States, Rhode Island, Smithfield
Position ID:J0726-1465
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Description:
We're looking for a Front End Software Engineer with deep Angular expertise and strong cross stack experience in Java (Spring Boot) and NodeJS. You'll modernize a legacy application, design a scalable Angular application structure, and collaborate across the stack to deliver high quality, performant features on an aggressive timeline.
This role is ideal for someone who understands Angular as a full framework and can design clean, maintainable front end systems that integrate seamlessly with Java and NodeJS services.
This position is located on-site in Smithfield, RI.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Design modern Angular applications using standalone components, feature modules, shared libraries, and strict typing for long term maintainability.
. Build reusable, accessible, and responsive UI components using Angular Material, CDK, or custom design systems.
. Implement robust state management using RxJS, NgRx, or Component Store to ensure predictable UI behavior.
. Develop and optimize Angular data services, interceptors, and API integration layers using HttpClient and RxJS pipelines.
. Apply advanced Angular performance techniques: OnPush change detection, zone less patterns, lazy loading, and route level code splitting.
. Collaborate with backend engineers to design clean API contracts and integrate with Java (Spring Boot) microservices and NodeJS service layers.
. Modernize legacy front end codebases by refactoring outdated modules, removing anti patterns, and aligning with current Angular best practices.
. Build CI/CD ready front end pipelines with automated linting, testing, and build validation.
. Identify opportunities for AI assisted development, including code generation, test creation, and documentation acceleration.
. Contribute to design discussions around component hierarchy, routing strategy, shared utilities, and cross application patterns.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. 3+ years of Angular (Angular 10+ preferred), with strong understanding of framework internals.
. 2+ years of NodeJS for building supporting services, middleware, or integration tooling.
. 1+ years of Java (Spring Boot) for backend collaboration or full stack delivery (nice to have).
. Deep experience with:
o RxJS (operators, subjects, multicasting, error handling)
o NgRx or Component Store
o Angular CLI, workspace configuration, schematics
o Routing strategies, guards, resolvers, lazy loading
o Change detection optimization
. Experience with Dev Assist tools (code generation, diagramming, automation helpers).
. Experience with test automation (Jest, Jasmine/Karma, Cypress, Playwright) is a plus.
. Experience with AWS (CloudFront, S3, Lambda, API Gateway) is a plus.
. Strong ownership mindset - drives features from design through delivery.
. Comfortable working across multiple concurrent business capabilities.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
Who You Are:
You're an Angular engineer who thinks in design - components, modules, state, routing, and performance. You write clean, predictable code and understand how UI decisions impact scalability. You thrive in modernization efforts, communicate clearly, and collaborate naturally with UX, product, and backend teams. You enjoy building systems that last, not just screens that work.
