Your Role:

  • Complete site-specific hydrological assessment.
  • Develop hydrodynamic models.
  • Develop sound technical solutions including assessment, design, evaluation and construction for water resource structures.
  • Prepare technical letters and reviews, reports, quality control documents, memos and other documentation.
  • Identify, address and resolve technical design, operational and construction issues and conflicts as needed to deliver the work plan.
  • Prepare project drawings, study maps, specifications, cost estimates, operational plans, schedules and various project deliverables.
  • Prepare and maintain quality checks of designs, drawings, specifications, and quantity calculations.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
     


Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or equivalent diploma with relevant experience. EIT or Professional engineering registration in Canada would be an asset.
  • Experience:
    • 5 - 10 years experience in civil/hydrotechnical engineering in Canada, preferably on water resource projects and dams. New grads completed relative courses in water resources are welcome to apply for this position.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proven skills employing civil and hydrotechnical engineering fundamentals including hydrology assessment, hydraulic calculation and design.
    • Knowledge of HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, MS Excel, GIS, AutoCAD, and Civil3D is advantageous. Proficiency in these software tools facilitates efficient design and drafting processes.
  • Communication and Documentation:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are necessary for effective collaboration with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
    • Experience in writing reports, technical memos, and client communications ensures clear documentation and effective project communication.
  • Organizational Abilities:
    • Must be well organized and capable of managing and prioritizing numerous tasks. This commitment ensures successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and quality management.
  • Assignment Success:
    • Proven success in delivering high-quality projects and assignments on time and on budget demonstrates competence and reliability.
  • Collaboration and Independence:
    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team environment ensures adaptability and flexibility.
    • Demonstrate good teamwork skills and share leadership responsibilities for smaller team.
  • Practical Considerations:
    • Possession of a valid Canadian driver's license.
    • Must be able and willing to travel for business on a frequent basis as may be required for site visits and project-related travel.
