Job description

AMETEK LMS is seeking a Electrical Engineer III to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and documenting circuits for embedded, real-time microprocessor-based instruments. Working closely with firmware and mechanical development teams, you will play a key role in advancing our commitment to continuous improvement and the development of innovative new products.
The Electrical Engineer III will:
  • Design and implement electronics for embedded, real-time microprocessor-based instruments, meeting product requirements. This includes both new product development and enhancements or fixes to existing products.
  • Analyze product requirements, research current technologies, and collaborate with firmware, electrical, and mechanical engineers to assess feasibility and develop optimized solutions for performance and cost.
  • Document schematic and layout designs following established standards and procedures, including creating test plans. Collaborate with Test Engineering to enhance automated testing.
  • Contribute to project planning by estimating effort and cost, prioritizing tasks, and managing responsibilities.
  • Provide technical support for associates and customers, including mentoring junior engineers, assisting with the creation of product manuals, troubleshooting customer issues, and addressing sales inquiries.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for product and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Senior Electrical Engineer Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in electronic circuit design and new product development, with specific expertise in:
    • Analog circuit design (DC to 1 GHz)
    • Digital circuit design
    • Embedded controller hardware design
  • Proficiency with design software such as schematic entry tools (e.g., OrCad, Eagle) and PCB layout tools (e.g., PADS/Mentor Graphics, Eagle). Familiarity with circuit analysis software (e.g., PSpice).
  • Knowledge of EMC requirements, including PCB design and layout techniques to ensure EMC performance.
  • Experience with common test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DVM/DMM, and ideally spectrum or network analyzers.
  • Proficient in general computer software such as Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with hazardous area design approvals (e.g., Intrinsic Safety, Explosion Proof) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industrial instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, temperature measurement) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial digital communication protocols (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus) is preferred.
  • Experience with embedded firmware development, including C programming, is a plus.

Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
