Job description

Position: Electrical Lab Technician
Locations: Rockford, IL 61108
Pay Rate: $35.00-$44.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Ideal Candidate:
This individual will work with our client's Aerospace engineers and technicians to support production of primary and secondary power generation products. This is primarily a bench job with occasional support outside the lab.
Responsibilities:
* Troubleshoot and repair electronic measurement and power equipment of all types and ages while demonstrating safe methods. Reverse engineer old equipment and create new circuits/circuit boards to replace obsolete parts.
* Research new equipment and/or components to replace what is obsolete and consult with engineering staff on final selections.
* Develop documentation for projects, including wiring schematics, material lists, operating instructions, etc., as required. Utilize software tools such as Microsoft OneNote & Visio, AutoCAD LT as directed.
* Consult with calibration group on the function and capability of test equipment and components.
* Project materials as necessary and assist staff technicians with the same.
Qualifications:
* 3 or more years of relevant experience.
* Associate or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar field desired.
* Self-starter will an insatiable desire to understand how and why things work. Comfortable working with minimal supervision in support of other technicians. Independently ideate and construct electronic projects for prototyping test tools.
* Thorough understanding of electronic components their functions to be able to troubleshoot equipment with limited information. For example: high-power electronics (OP amps, IGBT, SCRs, MOSFETS, Thyristors), integrated logic circuits and functions including logic devices and controllers.
* Demonstrated ability to apprehend and describe standard equipment functions, failure modes and proposed solutions to personnel that may not be experts.
* Demonstrate use of a wide variety of electronic troubleshooting equipment.
* Experience working with programmable logic devices (Allen Bradley, Siemens, National Instruments), microcontrollers and embedded systems utilizing LabVIEW, RSLogix 5000, and Studio 5000.
* Ability to write program or code snippets utilizing C or C++, Pascal, Basic and Visual Basic for troubleshooting purposes.
* Ability to work with a variety of personalities in a lab environment.
