Job description

As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a dynamic Electrical Engineer and be part of our Cold Rolling Works Maintenance team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.

Objective: evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of Stainless Steel. The Electrical Engineer's primary focus is the continuous improvement of the electrical and instrumentation systems of a specific department. Define opportunities for improvement, measure key parameters, analyze the acquired data, implement the chosen solution, and control the process.

Job qualifications and experience requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Min 5 years' experience
  • Or, 10 years of experience and an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends and identify opportunities through analysis.
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft based programs. SAP/ PM, or other maintenance management system preferred.
  • Knowledge in programming and troubleshooting in PLC 
  • Experience in calibration and troubleshooting in Instrumentation for flow temperature, pressure and weighing systems,
  • Experience in repair and troubleshooting for VFDs, motors, MCC's and breaker's for low and medium voltage

Main Responsibilities for the role:

  • Identify opportunities to improve the safety, reliability and productivity of the designated area
  • Work in concert with the Mechanical and Process engineers to identify improvements, and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to the electrical maintenance and operating teams.
  • Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations
  • Assist in the development of Safe Job Procedures (SJP) and Emergency Procedures (EP).
  • Maintain environmental and safety compliance requirements.
  • Identify safety hazards and opportunities for improvement in Safety.
  • Identify environmental opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and deliver training in relevant areas of expertise.
  • Lead maintenance activities for maintenance outages and shutdowns.
  • Plan, manpower and resource allocations for daily maintenance activities.
  • Develop LOTO procedure for related area equipment.
  • Develop preventive and predictive programs for area related equipment.
  • Facilitate the identification and/or implementation of Best Practices and Continuous Improvement across all teams.
  • Any other activities that may be required, or requested to support the business

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps).
  • Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, extreme heat and cold and near moving parts. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt.
  • Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials.
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles.
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes.
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools

Salary range: USD 92,400-127,100
