Job description

JOB TITLE: Communications & Social Media Specialist
PROGRAM AREA: Development
FSLA STATUS: Part-Time, Hourly (20-25 hours per week)
JOB OBJECTIVE: To support Oasis Center's Fund Development & Community Engagement department by creating, managing, and publishing content across social media platforms and development communications channels, helping to advance the agency's storytelling, donor engagement, and community visibility goals.
Social Media Management
Essential Functions:
  • Manage and maintain Oasis Center's social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly social media content calendar, balancing scheduled posts with timely, responsive content.
  • Source, write, and design social media content using graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe, or equivalent), ensuring consistency with Oasis Center's brand voice and visual identity.
  • Monitor platform engagement metrics and prepare regular reports on reach, impressions, follower growth, and social post performance.
  • Respond to comments and messages in alignment with organizational guidelines.

Story Gathering & Content Development
Essential Functions:
  • Proactively gathering youth stories, program updates, and organizational news for use across communications channels.
  • Coordinate with program staff to source photos, testimonials, and content that authentically represent Oasis Center's mission and impact.
  • Maintain an organized content and asset library for use across development communications.

Development Communications Support
Essential Functions:
  • Publish and distribute the Oasis Center e-newsletter, including content assembly, layout, and scheduling.
  • Support production of the annual report, program summaries, and other development communications materials as assigned.
  • Assist with copyediting and proofreading of donor-facing communications.

General and Administrative
Essential Functions:
  • Attend agency and departmental staff meetings.
  • Participate in agency functions as appropriate.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in social media management, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn - including both organic content and platform analytics.
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice for different audiences and platforms.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a content calendar and meet deadlines independently.
  • Familiarity with e-newsletter platforms preferred.
  • Background in marketing, communications, or public relations preferred; nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Photography or basic video editing skills a plus.
  • Ability to form strong, caring and affirming relationships with all youth -including LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Knowledge of an ability to apply Positive Youth Development, Trauma-Informed Care, and evidence-informed practices based in an understanding of adolescent development.
