Job description
The Associate Director of Curriculum and Assessment supports and advances academic quality through the strategic coordination of curriculum, assessment, and accreditation processes for the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS) at the University of Minnesota.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, this role provides leadership, coordination, and process support for curriculum development and revision, assessment reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Associate Director bridges curricular strategic vision with execution, supporting alignment with academic rigor, industry relevance, and accreditation, certification, and licensure expectations across Undergraduate and Graduate programs.
This is a 100% time position. This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement. The University of Minnesota is committed to fostering local talent through employment opportunities. Curriculum Governance and Integrity (40%)
- Supports Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in new curriculum development, curricular mapping, and the preparation of governance consultation materials
- Coordinates curriculum development milestones and supports alignment among program leadership, faculty, governance, and instructional design partners
- Reviews and advises on the alignment, measurability, and validity of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) to ensure they meet University and College standards prior to committee review
- Coordinates the cyclical course review process and provides templates, timelines, and assessment guidance to lead instructors, faculty directors (FD) / directors of graduate studies (DGS), and other stakeholders
- Develops and maintains Curriculum Committee templates and supports faculty and program leaders in preparing proposals for new courses and program revisions, including Writing Intensive (WI) designations

Manage process for undergraduate programs and faculty directors to complete annual writing plans and participate in the Writing Enriched Curriculum (WEC) program
Accreditation, Assessment, and Reporting Coordination (40%)
- Serves as the college-level assessment coordinator and process lead for selected accreditation, certification, licensure, and compliance activities (e.g., HLC, NC-SARA, ABET, BBHT, AASECT) in partnership with program leadership
- Develops, implements, and manages learning assessment processes and tools used for accreditation purposes and annual University reporting
- Monitors reporting cycles and supports programs in maintaining the necessary documentation to align with external professional standards
- Coordinates licensure-related documentation, reporting, and internal tracking for specialized programs, such as Counseling Education
- Manages the Professional Competence Development Assessment (PCDA) process and coordinates academic documentation for affiliation agreements

Manages the workflow for internship and affiliation agreements, ensuring entry into the University Affiliation Agreement database
Adjunct Faculty Onboarding and Instructional Support (20%)
- Develops and coordinates onboarding resources that orient adjunct faculty to college expectations for syllabus quality, assessment design, accessibility, and instructional consistency
- Reviews all syllabi for alignment with approved learning outcomes, credit-hour expectations, and college standards
- Partners with relevant University offices and Academic Technology and Design (ATD) to ensure adjunct faculty have access to required training (e.g., FERPA, ADA, Title II) and college-specific guidance on appropriate training requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS plus at least 6 years Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field OR
Masters degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field plus at least 4 years of professional experience in higher education curriculum and assessment - At least 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a higher education setting
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and navigating accreditation and assessment cycles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education Administration)
- Experience with pedagogical theory, high-impact instructional practices, and universal design for learning
- Proven ability to lead complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and faculty governance
- Experience with some higher education teaching and instruction
CCAPS Academic Programs include 6 undergraduate majors,10 graduate degrees, along with many certificates and minors.
Pay Range: $79,000 to $90,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
