Reports to: Principle Software Engineer, Software Engineering
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Engineer III, Software/Web development position is responsible for the design and development of innovative software and web solutions in a challenging hi tech engineering environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Analysis
  • Analyzes software and data requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Consults with engineers, data analysists and other IT specialists to determine system specifications to meet the functional and performance requirements.
  • Communicate concepts, recommendations, and solutions effectively with customers as well as management, verbally and in written format.

Design & Development
  • Architects, designs, develops software for desktop, web applications and cloud solutions to meet customer/product requirements.
  • Develops application services on AWS, integrating with cloud-native services (e.g., Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Develops and implements procedures and documentation for software system testing, validation, and training.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Testing, Installation, & Commissioning
  • Coordinate testing, installation, and commissioning of software at customer sites.

Maintenance & Support
  • Provide support and maintenance for existing software and web applications/products.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Operations, Engineering and Data teams to support specific software and data reporting/visualization needs.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers as well as management.

Technical Leadership
  • Ability to lead projects and provide technical oversight to a team of developers.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related Engineering discipline
Experience/skills:
  • 8+ years of hands-on Software Design and Development, Object Oriented Analysis/Design & GUI development experience required.
  • 5+ years of full stack .NET Framework with C#, Web development (.NET core, ASP.net, web API).
  • 5+ years of building front-end React 18+ applications using TypeScript.
  • 3+ years of working with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • 3+ years working with the following AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch

*12+ years combination of education and experience in software engineering in leu of education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related Engineering discipline
Experience/Skills:
  • Experience using Claude Code CLI and managing an agentic environment (*.md, tooling, workflows).
  • Experience with popular front-end tools: TanStack, TailwindCSS, Zod, and shadcn.
  • Familiar with Infrastructure-as-Code and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures on AWS, pub/sub (SNS/SQS), message queues, and streaming data ingestion, and the tradeoffs between these patterns.
