Job description

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, maintains and modifies the student records in the student information system (SIS) and supports District staff in the effective operation of data applications and school business operational software for Sunnyside Unified School District.  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledges, skills and other characteristics.  This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class).
TASKS:
Provides support for all schools and departments in the use of technical software applications; assist with in-school services and training; and performs related duties as assigned. Serves as primary support resource for school office staff for SIS and related applications.
Monitors and corrects user data; modifies existing report content; prints reports for District use; trains and instructs users on the student information system; prepares and uploads data files.
Collects information and creates new reports; verifies accuracy of database by running error-tracking programs; conducts training sessions for users on relevant programs; answers users questions and troubleshoots any problems occurring in the student information system; addresses help desk tickets; generates reports for state, administration, departments, outside agencies and school use; sets up other student information system components as needed; performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: 
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Federal and State regulation manuals.
Knowledge of technical programming manuals.
Skill in mathematical calculations.
Skill in creating, updating and maintaining reports.
Skill in training users on programs.
Skill in computer operation.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, bending, repetitive motion, vision to detail, and may require some lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Associate's Degree in Computer Programming or related field preferred OR at least 1 year of equivalent experience.
One (1) year of computer programming or database management experience, or an equivalent combination of training and education.
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
