Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Associate Data Center Technician for an onsite contract position with a Leading Technology Firm located in Hillsboro, OR. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. As an Associate Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting failed hard drives and DIMMs, as well as installing new SSDs and NVMEs into existing servers. Mentored by level 2 data center technicians, you will assist with various server maintenance tasks. This role requires basic server component experience and entry-level Linux troubleshooting skills, with your work directly impacting the stability and performance of the company's enterprise computer systems. Responsibilities: Perform basic hardware diagnostic and troubleshooting of servers, escalating complex issues as necessary Troubleshoot basic Linux OS level issues on all servers Install new SSDs and NVMEs into existing servers Assist client engineers in troubleshooting all auto build (Linux Kickstart) nodes that do not build properly Troubleshoot and resolve all network connectivity issues at the physical layer (port flapping, port down, link issues, etc) Resolve manually-generated tickets through cross-functional collaboration across diverse teams Process all server nodes ready for decommissioning and prepare them for a third-party ITAM vendor Assist with any hardware installations that do not fall within the scope of work for quarterly organic growth Respond to all system problems on a 24x7 basis and take part in an on-call rotation Assist Data Center Technicians in OS level and network troubleshooting Ensure the data center's house rules are being followed and report any concerns to leadership Maintain data center cleanliness and report any issues to leadership Requirements: 2+ years in a Data Center Engineering Role 2+ years of Linux troubleshooting experience 2+ years of server hardware troubleshooting experience Desired skills: Experience with ticket systems like JIRA, Salesforce, or ServiceNow Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA A+ or similar Experience with automation and script use (e.g., Python, Bash) Familiarity with networking protocols and equipment (e.g., switches, routers) Experience using fiber testing equipment and understanding complex network mapping Strong verbal and written communication skills Sound problem-solving logic and analytical skills Ability to work independently and within a team Attention to detail and strong organizational skills Proactive attitude and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes Pay range: $23.50 - $32.90 per hour Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
