The salary range for this job posting is $55,132.00 - $88,210.00 annually + bonus + benefits. Pay Type: Salary

Encova Insurance has an opening for a Data Steward for either our Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, WV location. This role will work a flexible hybrid schedule with day/s in office each week and you must reside within a reasonable commute to the office location.

The Data Stewardis responsible for monitoring and resolving issues with various accounting and insurance policy and claims administration systems. This position will assist in system setups as well as data quality and record processing. This positionwillparticipate in projects assigned to maintain key controls within the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure proper recording and reportingof insurance information systemsbased on statutory accounting principles.
  • Develop an understanding ofproperty and casualty insuranceand assist with research, analysis, and implementation ofdata fixesto ensure proper reporting. Identify potential problems, inefficiencies or risk and work with higher-level staff to resolve them.
  • Dailyposting ofjournal entries& related reconciliation reports for policy, claim, commission and miscellaneousinsuranceandcorporate informationsystems.
  • Understand rules, regulations, and procedures for systematically handling work.
  • Perform account reconciliations for assigned asset, liability, and expense accounts to ensure the accuracy of financial reports and to safeguard the assets of the Company.
  • Run and modify existing reports from financial reporting systems including the core insurance system, general ledger, business objects, and other online data access points.
  • Postjournal entries, allocations andrequired supporting computations and assist other areas with this function.
  • Complete selected elements of the month-end close process.
  • Review, maintain and approve all vendor records in keeping with established procedures and controls.
  • Assist with reconciliation ofpotential issues and exceptions relating to the cash process and reporting and working with other areas to resolve,
  • Assist with PBC items for the company's annual audit.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify areas of inefficiency to streamline results.
  • Be part of specialized project teams to achieve accounting department's goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • A four-year college degree is required; with a major in accounting,finance,datascience ormanagement information systems strongly preferred.
  • Interest in progressing towards CPA, CITP or CISAis preferred, though not required.
  • Ability to learn and understand various software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Accessand specialize insurance software as assigned.
  • Possess the ability to use technical tools to perform analysis and create efficiencies in reportingwith a preference for Business Objects and Tableau.
  • Understand and access various data sources, using available reporting tools, to meet compliance, and accounting requirements and operational reporting needs.
  • Works well in a highly skilled team environment, has a readiness to learn new technology, and a profit-minded perspective are essential.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
