Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Data Engineering Team under GOCT Solution Architecture & Engineering. Ensures specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the business strategies and objectives to comply with the governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures

Accountability 

  • Support and maintain enterprise server infrastructure within Microsoft environments, ensuring high availability, system stability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Manage end-to-end software lifecycle activities including vulnerability remediation, patching, and software currency upgrades to keep servers secure and compliant.
  • Lead and support infrastructure upgrade and migration initiatives, including SQL Server version upgrades to Microsoft-supported platforms, ensuring minimal business disruption.
  • Conduct server and infrastructure security assessments to identify risks, evaluate exposure, and collaborate with security teams to implement remediation and control measures.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise connectivity components such as ODBC drivers, data adapters, and integration tools to ensure reliable data access across systems.
  • Provide production support for enterprise data pipelines and ETL processes, including proactive monitoring of daily jobs to ensure successful and timely execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, ETL failures, and data issues by working closely with development and support teams to restore service quickly and prevent recurrence.
  • Manage deployment activities and change requests, supporting application and infrastructure migrations across Development, UAT, and Production environments with proper controls.
  • Support cloud and hybrid data platforms including Azure Data Factory pipelines and Power BI Report Server, handling deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies by managing SQL Server access controls, conducting PII and risk assessments, and supporting application portfolio management and ServiceNow processes.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting and maintaining complex data and server infrastructure to enable data analytics and business intelligence reporting
  • Strong technical expertise in SQL Server, SSIS, and T-SQL with hands-on experience in ETL development and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data infrastructure and servers, including production support, issue resolution, and maintaining system security and stability.
  • Proven experience with ServiceNow incident management system.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI Report Server, Power BI Services, and Power BI Desktop.
  • Exposure to Azure Data Factory pipeline development and deployments is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Canadian banking systems, particularly Retail and International Business Banking, is considered an asset.
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, and evaluation practices.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
