About Sunde Engineering

Sunde Engineering is a civil and environmental engineering consulting firm serving developers, architects, landowners, and municipalities across the Midwest. The firm provides site development design, permitting, stormwater management, and environmental consulting services across a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Position Overview

Sunde Engineering is seeking a motivated Civil/Environmental Associate Engineer to support site development projects including grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience across a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

Passed or scheduled to take the FE Exam (EIT preferred)

0–2 years of experience (internships/co-ops preferred)

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software

Basic understanding of site design, stormwater management, and grading

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the design of site development projects including grading, drainage, and utility layouts

Support preparation of construction drawings, reports, and technical specifications

Perform basic hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for stormwater systems

Assist with storm sewer, culvert, and erosion control design

Support permitting efforts with local, state, and federal agencies

Conduct data analysis and use engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrology models)

Participate in field visits and construction observation as needed

Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers on project deliverables

Preferred

Internship experience in land development or consulting engineering

Exposure to permitting processes or environmental regulations

Experience with hydrology/hydraulics tools (e.g., HydroCAD, HEC-RAS)
