Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join a dynamic team at a top Am Law 100 firm.

Candidates may sit in their San Diego, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, Los Angeles, Miami, or New York office. This is a great opportunity for an associate with patent litigation experience who is looking to grow in a highly collaborative environment and handle cutting-edge technology cases.

About the Patent Litigation Section

The patent litigation practice is at the forefront of IP law, offering a comprehensive range of services with a focus on patent litigation. The team’s deep understanding of client technologies and business goals drives successful litigation strategies, whether defending against infringement claims or enforcing patent rights. The firm works with clients across the technology sector to develop and execute litigation strategies that align with their commercial objectives.

Responsibilities

The associate will:

  • Prepare and try patent matters, including Markman hearings and technical analysis of patents and products.
  • Manage discovery, work with experts, and conduct and defend depositions.
  • Draft pleadings and motions related to patent litigation.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop effective litigation strategies and provide high-quality client service.

Qualifications

  • JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to or eligibility for admission in California.
  • 2+ years of patent litigation experience in district court and/or before the International Trade Commission.
  • A technology background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in team settings and engage professionally with clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
