Job Title: Deputy CAD Administrator


Position Summary

The Deputy CAD Administrator supports the overall management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company's CAD and design technology environment. This role reports to the CAD Administrator and assists project teams by helping maintain CAD standards, supporting users, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to efficient and consistent design practices across the organization. The Deputy CAD Administrator plays a key role in enabling project delivery and supporting company growth through reliable, scalable CAD processes.


Position can be located in any of our offices, hybrid or fully remote


Key Responsibilities


CAD Standards & Governance

  • Assist in maintaining and enforcing company CAD standards, libraries, and best practices.
  • Help document CAD procedures and workflows.
  • Support quality control reviews to ensure deliverables comply with company and client standards.

User Support & Training

  • Provide day-to-day support to CAD users, including troubleshooting software, files, and plotting issues.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees by setting up CAD profiles, permissions, and tools.
  • Support the development and delivery of CAD training materials and learning sessions.

System Administration & Coordination

  • Assist with software installations, version updates, and license coordination.
  • Support file management, project setup, and directory structures in coordination with client requirements, IT, and project managers.
  • Assist with client Workspace deployment, troubleshooting and enhancements as needed.
  • Help evaluate new CAD tools, plugins, and workflows to improve efficiency.

Project & Team Support

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and project teams to resolve CAD related challenges.
  • Assist in managing client-based CAD resources.
  • Support cross-discipline coordination and data exchange between CAD platforms.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve CAD workflows, automation, and standardization.
  • Gather user feedback and assist in implementing process enhancements to support scalability and growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in CAD, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 to 10 years of experience using CAD platforms in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and/or Bentley OpenX products and/or ProjectWise (additional platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, or other BIM tools are a plus).
  • Strong understanding of CAD standards, plotting, and file management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, architectural, etc.).
  • Experience with CAD/BIM administration and standards of development.
  • Experience supporting a common data environment (CDE).
  • Familiarity with scripting, automation, and customization tools.
  • Experience working in a consulting or projectbased environment requiring the preparation of engineering and technical deliverables.
