Patent Litigation Associate Attorney (Junior to Mid-Level)

Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate to join the Intellectual Property Practice of a leading Am Law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2โ€“7 years of patent litigation experience and a strong technical background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

The ideal candidate has experience handling sophisticated patent disputes involving cutting-edge technologies and enjoys working with innovative clients across a broad range of industries. This role offers the opportunity to litigate complex patent matters while collaborating with nationally recognized intellectual property litigators and technical professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in patent litigation matters in federal courts, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in other dispute resolution forums.
  • Handle all phases of patent litigation, including pleadings, discovery, claim construction, expert discovery, dispositive motions, trial preparation, and appeals.
  • Conduct legal and technical research involving complex technologies and patent issues.
  • Draft motions, briefs, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation filings.
  • Collaborate with technical experts, inventors, and in-house counsel to develop litigation strategy.
  • Analyze patent portfolios and intellectual property issues affecting clients' business objectives.
  • Represent clients across a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, software, hardware, financial services, manufacturing, and other technology sectors.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, business-focused litigation strategies.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • 2โ€“7 years of patent litigation experience at a law firm.
  • Bachelor's, master's, or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, client-focused approach.
  • Active bar admission in the jurisdiction where applying or eligibility for admission.
