LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst for a highly visible opportunity with a growing organization in the Richmond area. This role is ideal for an experienced analytics professional who enjoys partnering with business leaders, translating data into actionable insights, and delivering advanced reporting and business intelligence solutions.
This position is open due to a temporary business need and has the potential to convert to a permanent opportunity. The team has experienced a backlog of work, creating an immediate need for someone who can quickly contribute and make an impact.
About the Role
As a Senior Business Data Analyst, you will serve as a trusted advisor to internal business partners, leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making. You will work closely with leaders across multiple departments to develop reporting solutions, perform complex analyses, create dashboards, and provide predictive and prescriptive insights.
This is a highly consultative role that requires strong technical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a keen attention to detail. Accuracy is critical, as the insights generated by this role directly influence business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with business leaders to understand goals, challenges, and reporting requirements
  • Gather and translate business needs into technical specifications and reporting solutions
  • Extract, manipulate, and analyze data from enterprise data warehouse environments and multiple data sources
  • Design and develop dashboards, visualizations, and reports using Power BI, Tableau, and other business intelligence tools
  • Build and maintain recurring reports and automated reporting solutions
  • Perform descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
  • Develop data-driven forecasting and decision-making models
  • Present findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and professional manner
  • Collaborate with technical teams to move solutions into production
  • Conduct peer reviews and ensure accuracy and quality of reporting deliverables
  • Maintain documentation, governance standards, and reporting processes
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as:
    • Data Analytics
    • Mathematics
    • Statistics
    • Computer Science
    • Finance
    • Economics
    • Management Information Systems
    • Business Administration
    • Related field
  • Minimum 3 years of professional data analytics experience supporting business leaders
  • Minimum 3 years of experience delivering descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
  • Strong SQL Server and database experience
  • Advanced Power BI and/or Tableau experience
  • Experience building business intelligence dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with marketing analytics and customer segmentation initiatives
  • Experience building customer lists and reporting for consumer-facing products or services
  • Familiarity with business intelligence software and enterprise data warehousing environments
  • Experience participating in stakeholder meetings and serving as a liaison between business and technical teams
  • Experience within regulated industries is a plus
