Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist that will be responsible for a broad range of tasks which support all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements at APP.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Aid in developing Health and Safety Programs and Procedures (Ex., Lockout/Tag out, Electrical and Machine Safety, Confined Spaces, Welding Hot Works, Fall Protection, Chemical Management).
  • Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, and temperature, to verify compliance with health and safety regulations. 
  • Develop a Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis for Industrial Accidents.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting to DTSC, AQMD, State water Boards, Fire Dept. etc
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Oversee the installation of safety devices on machinery, or direct device installation.
  • Assist in the investigation of industrial accidents, injuries, or near misses and help implement preventive measures.
  • Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
  • Interview employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
  • Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.
  • Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle health-related problems and make needed changes.
  • Interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety, such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety inspectors. 
  • Maintain liaisons with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Plan and conduct industrial hygiene research.
  • Strong commitment to good attendance and being on time as it is critical to meet the needs of needs.
  • Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by the department manager.

Skill Requirements:

  • Must have prior HSE experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and completing agency reports (Ex., Cal OSHA, ESP, CUPA, Local Fire Dept, State Water Boards, AQMD).
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • In compliance with ITAR regulations, must be a US Citizen or US Person. 
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office and internet-based programs.
  • English (reading, writing, verbal and comprehension).
  • Highly detailed, organized and deadline-oriented, with the ability to prioritize, focus and thrive in a high paced multi-tasking environment.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with employees across all levels and departments at APP.

Compensation: $25.57 - $34.09 an hour. This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
