Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities help you collaborate effectively with vendors and internal teams. These skills ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions, efficient supply chain operations, and successful vendor partnerships.

Job description

About IBS Electronics
IBS Electronics is a global electronic components distributor operating across the US, Hong Kong, and China. Since 1980 we help customers in aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, and energy markets solve hard supply chain problems and move fast to support their requirements.
We're a fast-moving, technology-driven team in a high-growth phase, and we're investing to grow. We use modern ERP, data, and AI-assisted tools because technology is core to how we operate. These tools are essential to supporting our global teams and enabling them to do their best work, not replacing them.
We're intentional about how we build our team. Procurement and Sales work side by side as global partners, with buyers paired directly to Account Managers across our US, HK, and China offices, so collaboration isn't a slogan here, it's how the work gets done. We welcome candidates of every background and are committed to building a team where different perspectives make us sharper.
About the Role
We're hiring a Procurement Buyer to source components, manage suppliers, and keep customer orders moving in close partnership with our global Sales Account Managers. This isn't a purchase order or data entry role. Your top priority is to find hard-to-source parts, reduce supply risk, negotiate supplier terms, and help sales and operations deliver for customers around the world.
Aerospace and defense experience is a plus. Buyers will be trained on ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120 standards, where traceability, chain of custody, and purchasing from approved suppliers sit at the core of your role. If you don't have aerospace experience, that's also acceptable, and we encourage all candidates to apply. It matters more to us that you bring a positive attitude, curiosity, and attention to detail. If you're organized, driven, and want to grow in a technical global industry, we want to hear from you, even if you don't tick every box below.
What You'll Do
  • Source components from franchise distributors, manufacturers, and qualified suppliers from our independent channels
  • Create and review RFQs, BOMs, part equivalents and alternates, lifecycle status, and obtain supplier quotes
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery, MOQs, and payment terms
  • Support aerospace and defense requirements: traceability, date codes, certificates of conformance, country of origin
  • Partner with Sales, Quality, Operations, Logistics, and Finance to keep purchase orders accurate and on time
  • Track open POs and follow up on shipment status and supplier commitments
  • Drive counterfeit mitigation, price reductions, order acknowledgements, delivery expedites, and on-time documentation, all key to our goals
  • Keep supplier, quote, and PO records clean in our systems

What You Need
  • 1+ years or equivalent experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, supply chain, sales support, or operations
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-up
  • Comfort with spreadsheets, ERP/CRM systems, and supplier portals
  • Curiosity, accountability, and willingness to learn a technical industry
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have
  • Experience buying electronic components, semiconductors, or electromechanical parts
  • Aerospace, defense, space, military, or high-reliability customer support
  • Knowledge of AS9120, AS6081, ISO 9001, or counterfeit avoidance
  • Experience sourcing obsolete, allocated, or long-lead-time components
  • NetSuite, Pipedrive, or similar ERP/CRM systems
  • Comfort using AI tools, prompting, and workflows to work faster and sharpen decisions

Compensation and Benefits
This role also earns procurement commission on top of base. Strong performers have grown their total earnings by 30 to 50 percent above base. What you earn scales with the value you create.
Benefits include medical insurance, 401(k), paid time off, paid sick leave, and holidays. We invest in our people: this role includes hybrid work flexibility, mentorship, and real growth opportunities as the team scales.
