Overview

Dunham's Sports - a Midwest Specialty Sporting Goods Retailer located in Troy, MI has an immediate opening for a talented, strategic-thinking Footwear Buyer. This position has responsibility for planning and purchasing sporting goods Footwear. This is a full-time position that works on-site in Troy, Michigan.


Responsibilities
  • Identify, analyze, and capitalize on market and customer trends
  • Merchandise presentation direction and guidelines
  • Optimize sales and gross margin dollars by analyzing, evaluating, and adjusting plans
  • Achieving Sales, Margins, and Turnover plans
  • Developing merchandise assortment by category and continually evaluating, analyzing, and adjusting these assortments
  • Open-to-Buy, pricing, and markdown management
  • Advertising, planning, and execution, including Co-op procurement
  • Source out and negotiate the best prices
  • Make key buying decisions that have an objective of providing our customers with great value and quality
  • Attend seasonal trade shows
  • Resolve fulfillment and/or shipping problems promptly
  • Monitor placed orders to ensure timely deliveries

Qualifications

Candidate requirements:

  • 3+ years retail footwear buying experience
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Self-starter, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable
  • Strong sense of style and trends
  • Have consistent follow-up and follow-through discipline
  • Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with vendors, store, and corporate personnel
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher; equivalent experience may substitute
  • Experience in footwear is preferred.
