Job description

Padfield & Stout, LLP is a 35-attorney law firm in Downtown Fort Worth with 50 employees in its Fort Worth office. We are focused on Commercial Litigation and Transactions and frequently represent nationwide clients in state, federal and bankruptcy courts.

Responsibilities include performing a variety of legal and administrative tasks, including:

  • Communicate and assist clients and attorneys in preparing responses to written discovery, document production(s), preparing for depositions and trials.
  • Prepare/draft pleadings, motions and written discovery in civil litigation
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of client representation.
  • Search for and study legal documents to investigate facts and law of cases, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
  • Prepare affidavits of documents and maintain document files and case correspondence.
  • Revise and file pleadings, petitions and other documents relevant to court actions.
  • Tracks and maintains deadline calendar to monitor and ensure compliance with court, statutory and other deadlines
  • The candidate for this position must be able to function well in a fast-paced, professional environment, be extremely organized, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision. The ability to prioritize, multi-task, take initiative, and meet deadlines is essential. The candidate must have a high level of efficiency and accuracy in dealing with detailed work. Candidate must be computer literate with Windows and Microsoft Word,Excel, Exchange, Outlook, Centerbase or other similar billing system.
  • Bankruptcy experience a plus.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Previous legal assistant/paralegal experience.
  • Paralegal certificate a plus.
