Associate Attorney – Consumer Law & Civil Litigation
Location: Edinburg, Texas
Position: Full-Time, In-Office
Experience Required: Minimum 3 Years
Sanchez Law Firm is a busy Houston-based consumer law and civil litigation firm seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our Edinburg office. This is a full-time, in-office position for an attorney who is comfortable managing litigation matters and working directly with clients throughout the life cycle of a case.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience and a strong working knowledge of consumer law and civil litigation. Candidates should be confident handling cases from pre-suit through trial and post-judgment proceedings, with the ability to independently manage deadlines, draft substantive pleadings and motions, conduct discovery, attend hearings, and communicate effectively with clients.
Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school – REQUIRED
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing – REQUIRED
  • Minimum three (3) years of litigation experience – REQUIRED
  • Knowledge and experience in consumer law and civil litigation
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience drafting substantive pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal briefs
  • Ability to independently manage a litigation docket, deadlines, and competing priorities
  • Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Professional and effective client communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced law firm environment
Job Responsibilities
The Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling all aspects of assigned civil litigation matters, including:
  • Managing cases from pre-suit demands through litigation, trial, post-judgment collections, and appeals
  • Drafting demand letters and pre-suit correspondence
  • Preparing case evaluations, summaries, and litigation strategies
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, responses, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Preparing, reviewing, and responding to written discovery
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Preparing for and attending mediations
  • Preparing for and attending hearings
  • Preparing cases for trial and attending trial
  • Conducting legal research and preparing briefs and memoranda as needed
  • Evaluating evidence and developing case strategy
  • Negotiating with opposing counsel
  • Maintaining regular and professional communication with clients regarding their cases
  • Managing court deadlines, discovery deadlines, and other case-related requirements
  • Working collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and other members of the firm
Position Expectations
This position requires an attorney who can take ownership of assigned matters, exercise sound professional judgment, and effectively move cases forward with appropriate supervision and support from the firm's legal team.
The successful candidate should be organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing a significant litigation caseload while maintaining high standards of legal work and client service.
This is an in-office position located in Edinburg, Texas. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
