The Staff Pad is proud to partner with a leading law firm and we are looking to hire an experienced Of Counsel Attorney - Civil Litigation & Probate to support the firm's growing Texas practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is a flexible, independent contractor opportunity ideal for a Texas-licensed attorney with an existing solo practice, small-firm affiliation, or other professional commitments who is interested in supplementing their caseload through the firm. The role involves handling referred civil litigation and probate matters, with the flexibility to manage complete cases or support selected matters based on experience, availability, and firm needs.

A strong local presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is essential, as the position requires dependable in-person representation for court appearances and other legal proceedings when needed. Schedule: Flexible | Part-Time | Practice Areas: Civil Litigation, Probate, Guardianship, Conservatorship & Estate-Related Disputes What You'll Do Responsibilities may include: Handle Texas civil litigation and probate matters referred by the firm Evaluate new matters and recommend case strategy, scope, and resolution Manage assigned cases from intake through resolution while coordinating with the firm staff Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, settlement documents, and court filings Conduct and defend depositions Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings Appear in Dallas-area courts for routine and substantive matters Handle contested and uncontested probate proceedings Assist with estate administration, heirship proceedings, guardianships, and conservatorships Support estate, fiduciary, beneficiary, real property, and business disputes Advise clients on strategy, deadlines, costs, and next steps Maintain accurate and timely billing entries through the firm's practice-management system Help monitor client retainers and account status Work collaboratively with the firm's attorneys, paralegals, and administrative teams Types of Matters Experience in both civil litigation and probate is preferred; however, candidates with substantial experience in either area and a willingness to support related matters are encouraged to apply. The attorney may assist with matters involving: Business, commercial, real estate and property disputes Contract litigation & construction related matters Partnership, ownership, fiduciary and beneficiary disputes Landlord-tenant litigation Pre-litigation demands and negotiations Probate administration, contested probate & will contests Heirship proceedings, guardianship and conservatorship Estate-related real estate or business issues What We're Looking For Qualifications & Experience Active Texas Bar admission in good standing Civil litigation and/or probate experience Experience managing legal matters independently, with minimal supervision Additional Skills & Attributes Knowledge of Texas court procedures and filing requirements Ability to attend in-person proceedings in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Strong legal drafting, analysis, negotiation, and advocacy skills Sound judgment, problem-solving, client communication and relationship management skills Ability to discuss legal strategy, fees, and case value Responsive, dependable, and deadline-driven Collaborative approach within an Of Counsel structure Work and Compensation Structure Hourly compensation based on the final agreement Flexible Of Counsel independent contractor relationship No guaranteed hours; workload varies based on client demand, matter type, and availability Access to time entries, invoices, client payments, and account status through the firm's systems Firm provides marketing, administrative, billing, and operational support The attorney will be expected to: Enter time promptly and communicate with clients regarding retainer replenishment Pause work when directed if client accounts are not current Manages legal services and assigned client relationships Why partner with the Firm.
